Thermal scopes detect heat instead of light. As a result, you can see animals in total darkness, in light fog and in thick cover. That is why they are the first choice for hog hunting, predator control and night pest work.
We stock models from Pulsar, AGM, Pard, Fusion, N-Vision, Athlon, Burris and Sig Sauer. In addition, you will find everything from compact entry-level units to long-range scopes with a built-in rangefinder.
How to choose thermal scopes
First, look at the sensor. A 384×288 sensor is affordable and works well at short to medium range. However, a 640×512 sensor shows more detail, so it helps you identify animals further away.
Next, check the lens size. A large lens of 50mm or more gives higher base magnification and longer range. On the other hand, a 25mm to 35mm lens gives a wider view for close, fast shots.
Also check the refresh rate. A 50Hz or 60Hz screen keeps the image smooth when animals move. Similarly, a laser rangefinder (LRF) measures distance for you, so your shot placement improves at longer range.
Thermal scopes or night vision?
Thermal scopes find heat, so animals stand out even when they hide. By contrast, night vision shows a more natural image, but it needs some light or an IR lamp. For this reason, many hunters use thermal for detection and night vision for close work. You can compare both in our Night Vision Scopes range.
