How to choose binoculars
When you choose binoculars, look at the two numbers in the name. The first is the magnification and the second is the objective lens size in millimetres. Higher magnification shows more detail, but it also makes any hand shake more visible. A larger objective lets in more light, which helps at dawn and dusk.
Also check the eye relief if you wear glasses, and adjust the dioptre so both eyes see a sharp image. A harness or strap keeps the binoculars ready to use and protects them from knocks.
